Here is a really interesting radio podcast with Melvyn Bragg and a team of leading mathematicians discussing the concept of “imaginary numbers”. This concept is used quite a lot in the Advanced Higher Mathematics syllabus, and while the content of this podcast is technical – it does give you a good idea of how recent and contemporary the concept actually is.
Well worth a listen!
